Tenor for Opera and Concert
After his vocal studies at the Hanover University of Music and Drama (Germany), the tenor Jan Kristof Schliep has been a member of the ensemble of the TfN · Theater für Niedersachsen (Theatre for Lower Saxony) for ten years.
For a few years now, he is a specialized freelance performer of roles in the character and lyric heroic tenor fach. He is particularly known for his clear diction and his »continuous presence on the stage«, which are regularly attributed to him. Since then, Jan Kristof Schliep worked with Orkest De Ereprijs and Steengroevetheater Winterswijk in the Netherlands and was a guest singer at the Landestheater Schleswig-Hostein. 2022/23 he sang the role of Walter in Weinberg's "The Passenger" at Theater Altenburg-Gera where he will debut as Eisenstein in "Die Fledermaus (The Bat)" in the 2023/24 season.
His concert repertoire is broad and includes works spanning five centuries, from the works by Schütz and the Evangelists in oratorios by Bach to the extreme part in Orff's "Carmina Burana". But also lyrical parts, such as Uriel in Haydn's "The Creation" and the solo tenor in Bruckner's "Te Deum", belong to his concert repertoire.
Due to his intensive pursuit of the German language in singing, he has also recently started working as a pronounciation coach for singers and offers presentation courses for singers as well as non-singers in German, English and Dutch.
